If you are an avid movie fan, and either have your own collection you would like to add to, or want to start a collection, you are probably aware that this can be quite costly. But if you buy your movies previously viewed (or used) you can considerably reduce the cost of a quality movie collection. There are a number of places to get used movies.

Search the Web. There are many websites that specialize in selling quality used DVDs. You can try Half.com. Amazon.com even offers used movies. 

Visit your movie rental shop. Your local movie rental store has to carry a large selection of current movies to meet their demand. After a few months, they don't need this excess inventory and will often sell these previously viewed movies at a discount.

Garage sales and thrift shops. Many people rush to buy movies on DVD when they first come out. After a period of time they have no interest in these movies and are looking to get rid of them. You can find entire collections at local garage sales. You can also find a limited selection at thrift shops. These options are less reliable than the first two, buy you will usually find movies considerably cheaper in these venues.

Movie Inventory If you look for movies in these venues you can wind up with a stellar collection at a fraction of the cost it would cost you if you purchased them new, even if you got them on sale.
