Touch screen interface, apart from being useful for the mobile phones, would not really take off for use in TV. Compared to the ancient remote control, touch screen still lags far behind in terms of convenience. However, a new technology called Gesture Control is fast catching up. In the Gaming Industry, gesture control is also known remotely as muscle sensor.

The basic concept of Gesture Control lies in a recognition device, slightly larger than a keyboard. This device can be suspended from the ceiling or could be clamped like a web cam on top of your LCD display. The built in cameras detects the movements of finger and hand in real time, simultaneously transmitting the information back to a computer.

The system interface will respond instantly as soon as somebody moves their hands and fingers in front of the display. Bear in mind, no physical contact or special glove with sensors are needed for the technology to work. The cameras used are simple and uncomplicated.

The same concept applies in catching the movements of other body parts. Large amount of gestures data are fed into computers. These data could be used later to detect and identify future movement of users.

A housewife somewhere in Asia would just wave her hand to switch on her TV while feeding her crying baby. A mechanic with his hand covered in grease could just operate his diagnostic device without leaving any greasy palm prints on the interface. Imagine, what a spy can do if he is equipped with a Super Sensitive Gesture Control while surrounded by state-of-the-art arsenal of weapons, while trapped in the enemies den.
